Chapter. is the app-based magazine I created for my Final Major Project. Targeted towards university students it aims to raise awareness of mental health using personal stories, mindful guidance and expert advice.

Concept

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue each year in the UK. Whilst the discussion is continuing to grow, more needs to be done to eliminate existing stigmas and improve awareness. The magazine needed to be informative, accurate and relevant but also accessible and easy to read. I aimed to achieve this by having articles written by both professionals with valid facts and advice as well students with an understanding and empathy of what the audience might be going through.

Process

I commissioned a variety of people to write articles for the magazine including graduates, a yoga instructor, the BCU Mental Health Society President and a student who deals with mental health issues whilst studying at university. Using a variety of techniques I created distinct illustrations for each article, using colour to maintain consistency.

Outcome

I decided to design and create the magazine as an app using Adobe XD as I felt that young people would be more likely to interact with it in this format. I then created a promotional video to demonstrate the app, with the animations, transitions and interactions.
