This was a mock editorial project for an article in Focus Magazine. ‘I Still Remember the Day My Brain Broke’ by James Lloyd describes his journey with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder); the day the illness took hold and his daily struggle to maintain a happy and healthy life.

Concept

I wanted to create an illustration that would represent the incessant thoughts OCD causes. It needed to instantly engage both a printed and online audience and encourage them to stay on the page and read the article. I explored the use of collage to create circling shapes and busy textures to create a feeling of unease and circulation.

Outcome

I created a whole range of illustrations but settled on the one that I did as it felt the most chaotic but I also feel that the soft colours adds a sense of vagueness.
